Why Use Our ProducT

From Frustration
to First Contact

We stripped away the noise and kept what works. Ground communication should be straightforward, dependable, and ready when you need it most.

Problem

Overcoming Throughput & Precision Issues

As missions mature, the "bottleneck" shifts. It’s no longer just about talking to the satellite (S-Band); it’s about the massive amount of data coming back (X-Band). We address the two biggest technical hurdles: bandwidth limits and the extreme difficulty of tracking narrow X-Band beams.

Solution

Integrated Dual-Band Engineering

Instead of forcing you to synchronize two different antennas or complex third-party modems, we’ve built the S and X feeds into one "Plug & Play" unit. The addition of Monopulse Tracking is the "secret sauce"—it uses the signal itself to steer the dish, ensuring you never lose a drop of data.

Operational Mastery

The ultimate goal is peace of mind. By using a vertically integrated Groundcom station, you get a single interface (API/GUI) that handles everything from basic commands to heavy payload downloads. You save months of engineering time and get a professional-grade gateway that "just works."

Deployment Spotlight

Arctic CubeSat Operations Centre

A European university consortium operating a constellation of 4 CubeSats needed high-elevation polar coverage to maximise daily contact windows. Groundcom deployed a dual-station VHF/UHF installation at 78°N — one of the northernmost operational ground stations in the world.

The stations track all four spacecraft autonomously, logging telemetry and executing uplink commands without operator intervention during off-hours. Average daily contact time per satellite increased from 8 to 31 minutes.

FAQ

Frequent questions

We are a university/startup with our first satellite—is S-Band too complex for us?

While S-Band (2.2-2.3GHz) increases complexity over UHF/VHF, our station is designed to minimize your technical risk. We provide a fully integrated "Plug & Play" system, including the signal processing chain, so your team can focus on the mission instead of building ground segment hardware from scratch.

Do we actually need to OWN a station, or can we use your network?

You have the choice. If you have a strategic need for total control and 24/7 availability, buying a station is best. However, if you want to avoid maintenance and high upfront costs, you can use our Shared Ground Station Network—getting the same professional S-Band performance without the hassle of ownership.

Can the station work with our existing "specific" data processing setup?

Yes. While we provide a standard modem for typical satellite radios, we understand mature players often have custom requirements. Our system is flexible; we can provide raw IQ data directly to your external processing, ensuring our hardware fits your mission-specific signal chain.

How "autonomous" is the tracking and configuration?

The station is truly "Turn on and Use." It features automatic satellite tracking based on public or custom TLEs and an automatic "RF Frontend setup." This includes polarization switching and frequency Doppler correction, so the hardware adjusts itself for every pass without manual intervention.

We already have "some" hardware—can Groundcom help us complete it?

Absolutely. For customers with compatible existing components, we can supply the "Main Box" and control software separately. This allows you to upgrade to a professional-grade ground station using pieces you already own, reducing costs while increasing reliability.

Why This Is Right for You

If You've Made It This Far, the Answer Is Yes

You're operating or planning a CubeSat or small satellite mission and you need ground infrastructure that won't become a multi-month project. The Groundcom ground stations are designed for exactly this profile.

Proven Industrial Reliability

Our antennas are manufactured for 24/7 autonomous operations in extreme climates. Whether in the Arctic or the desert, you receive a station built to endure, not just to function.

Risk-Free S-Band Entry

Transitioning to S-Band can be daunting. We minimize your technical risk by providing a pre-configured, "Plug & Play" signal chain that ensures you are mission-ready from the first pass.

Cost-Effective Ownership

We’ve optimized our manufacturing to offer professional-grade hardware at a fraction of the price of legacy providers, helping you reach ROI faster as your constellation scales.

The Expertise of an Operator

We don't just build stations; we run a global network. You benefit from our hands-on experience in maintenance, regulation, and satellite tracking for every piece of hardware we sell.

Future-Proof Flexibility

Our software-defined architecture allows you to update modulations and protocols remotely. As space standards evolve, your Groundcom hardware stays relevant without needing expensive physical upgrades.

Seamless Hybrid Scaling

Start with a single station and expand into our Shared Network whenever you need extra capacity. Groundcom gives you the freedom to own, lease, or both.

Not Sure Yet? Let's Talk.

Our engineers are happy to review your mission profile, link budget, and site constraints — and give you an honest recommendation, even if it's not our product. No obligation, no sales pressure.
